Clair week 1

So, It's been 6 days and we have a baby and have finally started to slow down. People have been coming by non-stop which has been really great and we have actually gotten some sleep so we've been awake and able to enjoy everything.

I realized this morning that I actually feel guilty that everything has been so easy. We had a bit of a troubled night our first night here where we got no sleep and then our second night we got almost a full night but she wouldn't eat, which was actually scary and not nearly as enjoyable as one would think sleeping through the night with a new born baby would be. However, we figured out she was just starving and since we have remedied that situation (yay for breast pumps) she has been happy happy and she cries when she's hungry and then she sleeps. And that's how it's been for the past two days. She is awesome and she sleeps between 4 and 6 hours during the night. We are going to go to the pediatrician today and he will tell us whether or not we get to continue enjoying that or if we should be waking her up.

Not that it's all been a bed of roses...I've had troubles with the breast feeding but we have a friend who is a nurse who has been helping me with it so for the first time since our night where she just stopped eating I was able to feed her on both sides.
Well, here are some pics...

Cara, seriously, she is sooooooo beautiful. I can't wait to see her again! Don't feel guilty about things going well! Just enjoy it. It will give you stamina...in case something doesn't go well in the future. I'm sure this motherhood thing will bring plenty of ups and downs, but I know her smile will make you forget the crappy stuff (should there be any ;).

Oh, way to go on working on the breastfeeding. It's such a weird process. I'm glad you are getting help. Just remember...you are a wonderful mother. No matter what, little, beautiful Clair will be well taken care of!
