Splash park

We went to the splash park at river and alvernon today and it was so much fun!! The neighborhood association is working on building one at the park right by our house and I have decided it really needs to happen! I would love to be on the committee. There were so many kids and families!

Love

Really wanted to capture this beautiful aspect of Clair's personality. She loves flowers and I love to watch her love them.

Blankets

Well, I don't post often about the stuff I make but I was encouraged to put up a post about some of the things I do. So, one of those things is a simple name blanket for babies. I started to make these a few months ago when I realized that I wanted a standard baby gift to give my friends' kids and my dryer had melted through three of my awesomely fuzzy polyester quilts that are so popular now.

So, the simple flannel and bamboo, 100% breathable baby name quilt was born. I've gotten better now that I've done a few so I thought I would share a few of the ones that I've done. It is a project I love for several reasons:

1. I always hand pick the material for the baby which gives me a special time to focus on the family and new little person!
2. It's quick!
3. I love to put the name on. I get bored with projects that are repeatable and so I love that this piece is always different!
4. The blanket is breathable. This is so important to me! Polyester doesn't breathe so I don't feel entirely comfortable letting my kids fall asleep in the crib with it, no matter how soft and fuzzy. But these blankets can go anywhere anytime because they let air flow through.
5. Anywhere. Anytime. I cram Clair's in her pack-in-play bag, the bottom of the stroller, the back of the car, my backpack. If It gets dirty it's ok...these aren't heirloom, if I'm with a bunch of kids, it's cool because no one else has one like it.

Anyways, I have a great love for these blankets and use Clair's almost everyday (of course, this might just be because I insist on getting my time and money's worth out of it!)

Dentist

Clair went to the dentist today because she hit her mouth on a pipe Monday and chipped out her front tooth. I keep telling people that she "bashed out her two front teeth" but, in reality, she just chipped one. We took her in to verify that nothing crazy happened and make sure she really was ok. And she was. Tragedy assuaged. Now she's got a super cute smile :)-not that she'll ever let you see it..,

Her little xray biter card became her favorite new toy until she received her brand new toothbrush!

And, the good news is...no cavities! The dentist declared us 'good parents'--you know, the kind whose daughter breaks both an arm and a tooth within the span of three months. I think we deserve some kind of award!

Hanging out with the kiddos

Clair and I went walking downtown yesterday...and little Ricky too. We went to the park and she played in the fountain. It was a lot of fun. I got on to her about standing in the fountain and she gave me this look:

Clearly has no concern for the disgusting things that could be floating around inside that water or the soggy cigarette butts or the brand new shoes she just soaked with chlorene filled downtown leaf infested fountain water. Ahhhhh, how I love her.

Back to playtime!

Ok. As a side note, she was wonderfully obediant and did not reenter the water after I asked her not too...but her poor shoes! The damage was already done! Did I mention they were like 10 hours in her possesion??

Travels

I'm sitting in the airport.

We've sat in a lot of airports of late.
Travelling is so exhausting and stressful but we really are very fortunate to have the ability to see so many different places and just be able to "hop ona plane" and go.
Recently we went to see our friends Chris and Carrie get married:

Then we went to see Ricky's cousin get married in Austin Texas.

This weekend I'm in SLO for a surprise birthday party for my best friend Jenn. Of course, I forgot to take pictures. Today I'm leaving SLO to fly to palm springs to meet my brother's girlfriend's family. It's going to be fun!

Ok, this plane is TINY!
