Well, I don't post often about the stuff I make but I was encouraged to put up a post about some of the things I do. So, one of those things is a simple name blanket for babies. I started to make these a few months ago when I realized that I wanted a standard baby gift to give my friends' kids and my dryer had melted through three of my awesomely fuzzy polyester quilts that are so popular now.
So, the simple flannel and bamboo, 100% breathable baby name quilt was born. I've gotten better now that I've done a few so I thought I would share a few of the ones that I've done. It is a project I love for several reasons:
1. I always hand pick the material for the baby which gives me a special time to focus on the family and new little person!
2. It's quick!
3. I love to put the name on. I get bored with projects that are repeatable and so I love that this piece is always different!
4. The blanket is breathable. This is so important to me! Polyester doesn't breathe so I don't feel entirely comfortable letting my kids fall asleep in the crib with it, no matter how soft and fuzzy. But these blankets can go anywhere anytime because they let air flow through.
5. Anywhere. Anytime. I cram Clair's in her pack-in-play bag, the bottom of the stroller, the back of the car, my backpack. If It gets dirty it's ok...these aren't heirloom, if I'm with a bunch of kids, it's cool because no one else has one like it.
Anyways, I have a great love for these blankets and use Clair's almost everyday (of course, this might just be because I insist on getting my time and money's worth out of it!)
