Mother's Day

We had a great day hanging out as a family yesterday. We watched documentaries, ate eggplant parmesian, exchanged gifts and cards and generally just spent time together...I was so exhausted I fell asleep around nine, I think! Not because the day itself was exhausting but just because I've been generally worn out. Ricky and I are going for sushi on Thursday since he worked yesterday so I get to extend the celebration even further!
Here are some pics of the day:

My gift from Clair!

My mom had mentioned a few weeks ago that she'd been lookig for a long time for a tray for her tea so I asked Cody to make this tray and we spray painted it green and then Clair added her white masterpiece and we put Little Ricky's feet and hand prints. These match last year's feet and handprints of Clair.

I made her this doily because tea is not complete without doilies!!

Total package-thought it was pretty and wanted to take a picture!

Hamburger buns

Hey all, I found this great hamburger bun recipe and it turned out great! Thought I'd post it!

I love my stones!

My dinner BLT! I waited 5 hours for this sandwhich...and it was worth it!!

I got this from the Big Oven App on my iPhone.
Yield: 20 Buns
Main Ingredient: Flour
Cuisine: American

Ingredients
2 cup Whole Milk
1/2 cup Water warm (105 -115 degrees F)
5 teaspoon Yeast active, dry
1/2 teaspoon Sugar
1/4 cup Sugar
2 ounce Butter cut into small pieces and softened
2 large Egg lightly beaten
1 tablespoon Salt
6 cup All purpose flour to 6 1/2 cups

Instructions
1. Bring milk to a bare simmer in a small saucepan over moderate heat. Remove from heat and let cool to 105 - 115F.

2. Stir together warm water, yeast and 1/2 tsp. sugar in bowl until yeast is dissolved. Let stand until foamy, approx. 5 minutes.

3. Add butter and ? cup sugar to yeast mixture and mix with paddle attachment at low speed until combined (it is okay if the butter does not entirely mix and is clumped slightly together).

4. Add warm milk and let sit for a minute. Mix until butter is melted.

5. Add eggs and mix until well combined.

6. Add salt and 4 cups of flour and mix, scraping down sides of bowl as necessary.

7. Switch to dough hook and beat in two cups of flour at medium speed, scraping down the sides once or twice. If needed, add more flour in tbsp. increments to make dough pull away from the sides. Beat for 5 minutes more. Dough will be sticky.

8. Transfer to a large oiled bowl and turn to coat with oil. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise in a warm, draft-free place until doubled in bulk, approx. 2 1/2 hours.

9. Butter two large baking sheets. Punch dough down and turn onto lightly floured surface. Roll out to about a 1/2 " thickness and cut into desired shapes - 3" rounds if available, otherwise 3" squares are fine.

10. Place on cookie sheets and cover loosely with plastic wrap. Let rise until a finger pressed into the dough leaves an imprint, approx. 1 1/2 to 2 hours.

11. Preheat oven to 375 F.

12. Place buns in oven and bake until golden brown and sound hollow when tapped, approx. 14 - 20 minutes per batch. Cool completely before serving.

In Seattle

Loving the northwest! I came out to bring my friend Karen her bike and she and her husband Valor have showed me a marvelous time! We went to the university farmers market and to Zaks burgers and to the locks.

Little Ricky did a great job!

Catching up

Clair's first doctors appointment. The "it's not broken" appt.

Clair in the herb garden...three weeks and it's still alive! Woohoo!

Cute new pajamas!

Passover

Matza and parsley!

Clair's first Passover participation

Happy birthday mom!

Clair's new baby. She normally feeds it...and then chews on the bottle herself. It's really amazing to see how much she picks up just by watching. She mimics everything I do with her little baby doll.

Aha! It IS broken. Pretty pink cast.

My birthday

Easter sunrise!

The little man smiles

30 seconds later...the little man cries!

Love this kid!

And that's the last two weeks or so! Busy busy! I'm going for round two on the housekeeper this Friday so I can maybe keep up with life.

Coming up in May and June- 3 weddings and a graduation.
